If you are anything like me, in between meals you feel as though you are ALWAYS searching for a snack. Whether you are feeling bored, stressed, emotional or anything in between. You sometimes walk around wanting to eat everything in sight. 10 minutes later, there you go again...CRAVING a snack!
Over the past several days, I have cut back on my snacking and am feeling so much less bloated. Mostly just by cutting down on snacks, I have not felt like I've ballooned up as the days have gone on.
I feel as though I can wear a pair of jeans and not regret it 20 seconds into my work day.
I wanted to share some tips/tricks from what I have applied these past few days in the hopes that it may those of you riding the snack struggle bus.
1. I pack a snack for work.
- If I do not, I find myself hitting up the chocolate bars in the break room.
2. When I pack said snack, I portion it wisely.
- I do not under-pack because then I feel as though I am starving. I also do not over-
pack because then I will mindlessly eat my pretzels all day.
3. When I come home from work, I do not go right for a snack, I drink some water.
- I eat dinner fairly soon after I get home, so instead of reaching for a snack, I drink
some water first. If I still want a snack (which I have not wanted all week), I will eat one.
However, usually after drinking water, that "NEED" for a snack has dissipated.
4. When I have popcorn for a snack, I put it in a little cup. I ONLY eat what I put in the cup.
- Again, managing my proportions. I only eat what I got out of the bag. No more trips
to the pantry for more popcorn.
5. I ask myself if I'm really hungry.
- Most times I am not. I am just bored, or stressed. Once I recognize I am not actually
hungry, it is easy to consciously choose a different activity, other than eating.
6. My final tip is that I'm mindful of the snack I'm choosing.
- When I have snacked, I make sure it is on gluten free pretzels, gluten free popcorn,
blueberries, carrots etc. Yes, once in awhile it has been chocolate. However, for the
most part, I have been choosing the healthier snack route.
I hope these tips were helpful. If you are struggling with snacking, please know that you are not alone. Additionally, I am always here to help in whatever way I can. So please reach out if you are still in need of some snack guidance.

Elizabeth
